    The event has also received back-up supports from cultural associations of Italy, France, Japan and other countries. After 12 years of development and experience accumulation, by the centurial development of world animation, 2009 Seoul International Animation Festival is planned with a more complete and professional way. In the 5-day event, the committee of contest brought most durable and classic animation works and communicated the latest cutting-edge animation works. On the other hand, it also focused its attention on independent produced animation works from third world countries. By following the principle of build cultural and industrial work, Seoul International Animation Festival is well deserved as one of the most solemn Asia's animation events.

     

    There are totally five major categories of animation work for this competition: feature films, short films (professional and student), TV movies, international advertising films, and domestic animation. Over 1000 pieces of works from 52 countries around the world participated in this year's competition. Of which, there were 35 pieces of works being nominated for Commissioned Films category.
     
    Works that competed against West Tower of Coastal City and that were nominated Commissioned Films includes BBC-iPlayer Penguins, the best advertising film winner of Annecy 2009, AUDI - Unboxed, the Under Commissions winner of 2009 ITFS, Warcraft-the Frozen Throne, the best Game Award winner of 2009 IMAGINA and other international top-level animated ads. In the end, Lost & Found, the TV special prize winner of Annecy 2009 won the awards.
